Demolition of Former Alcoa Alumina Refining Facility – St. Croix Renaissance Park
29,000 net tons of metals recycled. Scrap sales directly to European and Asian mills. SWC loaded three bulk cargo ships (for mill-ready steel) and numerous sea containers (for nonferrous) scrap.
- Revenue-sharing arrangement with client resulted in client’s receiving positive revenue return for scrap proceeds.
- Demolition was first construction phase of overall remediation/capping of site and clearing of land for client’s new industrial tenants.
- Demolition methods included controlled felling, crane dismantling and selective dismantling/piece work near active assets.
